INTERVIEW
Media Monty Presents

Emily Brooks Millar

We worked with visual artist and author Emily Brooks Millar to produce an interview-led film exploring her creative journey, artistic process, and the thinking behind her work. Filmed across her studio and during a pop-up shop she was hosting in a record store, the project captures both her perspective and the environment around her work.

The Brief

The aim was to create a high-quality interview that felt natural, engaging, and visually polished, while allowing Emily’s personality and story to come through clearly. The focus was on: – Capturing an authentic conversation – Reflecting both the studio and pop-up environments – Creating a piece that could live on multiple platforms – Producing content that could be repurposed into shorter clips

Our Approach

We kept the setup simple and unobtrusive, using a single camera interview setup alongside gimbal-led b-roll filmed in both Emily’s studio and at the pop-up in the record store. This allowed us to capture a natural, relaxed conversation while also documenting her workspace, the artwork, and the interaction between Emily and her audience. In post-production, the interview was shaped into a clear narrative, with careful pacing, clean audio, and subtle visual adjustments used to maintain engagement while keeping the focus on Emily’s story.

The Results

The final film delivers a professional, engaging interview that showcases Emily’s work and perspective in a clear and authentic way. By combining the interview with visuals from both the studio and pop-up setting, the film provides a stronger sense of context and personality, making it more engaging for viewers. It also demonstrates how a simple, well-executed setup can produce high-quality content that captures both story and atmosphere effectively.
